Thanks, that's helpful. Although the guides I read don't make a peep about it, so it's just a trick for those in the know. In reality, I tried doing that the first time I sent a patch (years ago), and got scolded for doing it wrong and sending an invalid patch...

Yeah, been there done that, that was a very demotivating experience. But that's particular problem of lklm (or even particular subsys), they are a tribe which relies on tribal knowledge (rather than documented process).

The funny thing is that it was a patch to Sway :) The entire patch email workflow with git seems quite welcoming to little per-project differences, which makes it rather brittle. – Dorota
